We custom sculpted our zipper pulls and gave them a nice taper and heft and strengthened them above standard. They feel oh so good. Placed on large YKK VIzlon™ teeth on the entire bag-this is the most enduring zipper available and much easier to fix if ever jammed than common coil zippers.

Quality!

I love bags and backpacks. I have many from several top brands. This bag checks all the boxes from style, quality, and function and is my new go to. As a frequent traveler, this bag is a perfect weekend companion and even as my primary work pack to the office.

Superbly well made, but some design choices are baffling

I've owned an assortment of bags from the best bag-makers out there, including Azo Equipment, Black Ember, GoRuck, and more. The Panda is very well-made and feels luxurious (esp. the fabric), but I'm baffled by two design decisions. First, the side pockets seem too short to be truly useful, and it's not clear to me what uses they intended for those pockets. Second, and more concerning: Zippers are always a weak point with regard to whether any bag is truly water-resistant, and the main zipper on this one seems particularly vulnerable. Not sure I'd want to carry the Panda in even a moderate rain, especially with a laptop inside it.

I believe that Pioneer Carry has started a "backpack renaissance" with the Panda Pack Backpack. The design affords functionality without trying to be the next "gimmick". You get a backpack that you can take anywhere. You get the value that you paid for. The design is rugged enough for adventure travel but elegant enough for the boardroom - or coffee shop, depending on where you conduct your business. People will ask you about it. Equally impressive are the stitched details of the PIONEER pack specifications in the main interior compartment, "PIONEER" stitched on the side pocket, and "Pioneer Carry" cast into both side of each zipper pull. This is a bespoke design and has set a new standard in a world of overnight cookie cutter products.
